What is it?
This is a surgical procedure performed under local anesthesia assisted by intravenous sedation (you sleep while we operate on you), or it can also be done under general anesthesia. We make micro-cuts in the chin bone and move it to the ideal position (which we previously plan using 2D and 3D technology). You do not need braces for this treatment.
How is a chin surgery done?
We do not use silicone implants since these can wear down the chin's own bone! For this reason, we make micro-incisions in your gum and bone to reposition the base of your jaw (chin) to the position your face requires and thus achieve facial harmony.
How do I know if
I need a chin surgery?
You can be a candidate@ sIf you have a small chin that creates the sensation of a double chin, or if you have a long or protruding (large) chin.
Many patients are candidates for orthognathic surgery but desire a less invasive treatment; in these cases, genioplasty could also be an option.
How long does the
recovery take?
There is a 3 to 5-day recovery period, and the swelling begins to decrease between days 4 and 5. It is recommended to avoid strenuous physical activities, use ice, and undergo recovery laser therapy and lymphatic drainage as per the instructions.
